TWINKLETOES - TEATR IRLANDZKI

Zapraszamy na kolejne przedstawienia TWINKLETOES - A Northern Irish Story

Projekt  TWINKLETOES TEATR IRLANDZKI składa się z trzech etapów:

1. quizu wiedzowego i innych materiałów do wykorzystania przed przedstawieniem

Twinkletoes - the play has a title which may not be found in a dictionary. It refers to being a good dancer or fancy footwork. Fred Astair was called 'Twinkletoes'.
Her daughter Noreen is only 17 and she’s pregnant. Karen didn’t want her to get married but Noreen insisted. She hasn’t told Declan that Noreen is pregnant. He’ll be angry and disappointed.
Karen’s father, whom she adores, was shocked and didn’t want to walk Noreen up the aisle when he first heard it. Karen convinced him to go to the church ceremony  but he refused to go to the wedding party.  Karen loves her father and is sad for him. She remembers how he was unhappy at her wedding too. He didn’t want her to marry Declan because he was a ‘terrorist’ . Both Karen and her daughter have been a disappointment to him.
In spite of Karen’s sad life she is full of vitality, hope and passion. The play shows how the lives of ordinary people like Karen and her family were ruined by the political strife in Northern Ireland but it also shows that life goes on and that hope springs eternal.
Karen comes home from her only daughter’s wedding.  She is a little drunk, tired and frustrated because her new shoes were hurting her so much that she couldn’t dance at the wedding.  It’s a strange day for Karen, from now on she will live alone in her little two bed-roomed house in Derry in Northern Ireland.  Karen is feeling lonely and lost so she talks and talks and as she does we discover her life.
She is married to Declan, who was an active member of the IRA  ( Irish republican army) the  northern Ireland freedom fighters and he has been in prison for the last nine years .  There is no hope of him getting out in his lifetime because he was given three life sentences to serve! Karen visits him every Thursday at the prison.
